Recently i finished a brief term blog writing gig where I got to analyze topics and supply personal reviews from the iPhone and iPad. I love my job!

Upon winning the bid for that job, I made a decision the time had come for any new business investment — I recently purchased an iPad. I used to be wanting one for awhile anyway (much thanks to the Modern Family episode where Phil so desperately wants one for his birthday), so having found myself by having an assignment to review them was just like a cosmic sign the time was ripe that i can get to be the proud new who owns my own, personal Ipad.

We took the kids to Best Buy rather spontaneously one Saturday afternoon (Him: “Hey, you need to go look at iPads at Best to buy?” Me: “Sure.”). Of course, throughout the Half hour drive there, we went from discussing merely exploring the iPads to trying to puzzle out basically should obtain the 3G or even the Wifi. This is no slight debate because the difference in price is about $150. However, when we got to Best Buy and located out that the store had in stock was the 16GB Wifi iPads, that pretty much ended the argument.

One of the leading discussions about the iPad is where it actually suits the world of computing. It’s almost like a traditional joke: “What’s bigger than an apple iphone, small compared to an iMac, but still has great apps?” I must state that the iPad is becoming almost a late developed appendage. I’ve it beside me almost constantly — even (much to my husband’s alternating amusement and, I think, jealousy) enough where I frequently go to sleep during sex cuddling by using it during the night.

Why am I so weirdly obsessive about my new toy? Because every day I’ve found yet another way the iPad makes my life so much easier of computer used to be. On this one perfectly sized handheld computing device, I can read a book (iBooks, Kindle), listen to music (iTunes, Pandora), play a game title (take a look at Angry Birds or Plants vs. Zombies), write articles for work (iWorks Pages, Google documents), surf the Internet, read email messages, watch a film (Netflix, iTunes store), as well as help my preschoolers start understanding how to read (browse the Preschool app).

Now, without having an iPad, you may be thinking, “So what? I can do the majority of that on my small PC or iPhone.” To some degree, yes, you can. But you can’t get it done as easily, flawlessly, and simply as possible with my one little iPad.

The screen is plenty large enough so that you can make excellent use of the touchscreen capabilities of the Apple handheld devices. The onscreen keyboard is particularly impressive — I can even use two hands to do my very own “iPad pecking” version of typing on a full-sized keyboard. I will add, though, which i did make the $70 investment towards the keyboard docking station after i bought the iPad, an investment which i absolutely recommend to anyone thinking about purchasing their very own iPad.

The true value and use from the iPad revolves around its convenient size, shape and weight. It’s not too large or small, an ideal shape for holding or propping on your knees, and certainly not too heavy to transport. iPhones are wonderful, but the smaller screen leads to a large amount of “fat finger”mistakes. Laptops are more convenient than the usual desktop to take with you, however they are still too cumbersome to easily travel with, in order to snuggle in bed to watch a film on. No, only the iPad provides the absolute perfect size machine for multi-tasking use.

I’ve been in love with my iPad because the day I brought it home. However, as we prepare to get ready to take vacation, my love has suddenly both deepened and strengthened. As the mom of three kids, imaginable just how much extra stuff is required to help to keep little ones entertained on a trip. Today when I was packing our carry-on bag I suddenly remarked that since I have the iPad, I won’t need to lug a whole backpack filled with extraneous items.

Gone are the books, puzzles, games, art supplies, etc. that normally weigh me down just like a bipedal pachyderm. My iPad will be able to provide all of the normal airplane ride entertainment by itself. You will find kids books on my iBooks shelf, the Doodle Buddy app for my budding artists, iTunes movies loaded and ready to go, and dozens of games to play. It is a whole traveling entertainment system in a single sleek 7.5 x 9.5 handheld screen. Fantastic!
